Rilo Kiley - “Smoke Detector”

My eyes burn
Everybody smokes
My eyes burn
Everybody smokes
I smoke too
But not as much as you
I do the smoke detector

There is a girl in a tank top
She is not wearin’ a bra
She looks so hot on the dance floor
She does the smoke detector

She says danger
Do the smoke detector
She says danger
I’m a smoke detector

QUOTE
And if we had just held out for tomorrow. We might have seen what seemed so far away. We didn’t even bother to stay.

Rilo Kiley - “Silver Lining”

And I was your silver lining
High on my toes
Well you were running through fields of hitch-hikers
As the story goes

Hooray hooray
I’m your silver lining
Hooray hooray
But now I’m gold

The Elected - “It Was Love” (Sun Sun Sun)

This isn’t particularly new (beginning of ‘06), but a wonderful, hopeful song for Summer:

when we made love in the van
and I drove with your hand on my lap
and when san diego got too unkind
we just picked up and left it behind
and we had some love and some hope
a full tank of gas and a wide open road

I also enjoy the backing vocals of Rilo Kiley’s Jenny Lewis on this track.  If you’re not aware, The Elected is Rilo Kiley guitarist Blake Sennett’s side project - and a very good one at that.

Dntel ft. Jenny Lewis - “Roll On”

And I just don’t know how I got stuck
Guess there’s muscle memory for love
And if you try hard enough
You might once again call my bluff
Or you can roll on, roll on
