It’s been a fantastic week for the web design and consulting firm Eugene and I started.  We’ve almost doubled our overall revenue with some big clients we’ve locked down the past week, while wrapping up a host of projects from the past few months.

Additionally - and perhaps more importantly - we’ve completely rebranded our company with a nice new site, business cards, etc… I really like the collaboration that took place to create the logo, color scheme, flash animation, and overall theme to the website.  It’s taken some time and there have been some challenges, but I’m really proud of the work we’re doing and the effort we’ve put into this idea.

Get in touch with me if you or a business you’re involved with is looking for quality web/logo/graphic design, technology consulting, or an entire corporate identity overhaul.

While visual design clearly has the capacity to refine a product’s aesthetics, its potential to communicate with people goes beyond good looks. Through the visual organization of elements, designers can communicate core messages to people that answer key questions:

  • What is this?
  • How do I use it?
  • Why should I care?

Answering these questions is a crucial component of both utility and usability, especially in interactive products.

Interesting article that explores some common misconceptions about what makes good for good visual design (and what doesn’t).  They use some interesting examples to make their case.
