Chicago tumblr friends… if you don’t have plans tomorrow night, come celebrate my 25th birthday with me over at Sedgwicks. My friend Marcus (and a couple of his bandmates from The Hue) will be playing an acoustic show and we’ll surely be taking in a few adult bevvies over the evening.
Phish - “Backwards Down The Number Line”
The new album from Phish, Joy, is really well done on the whole, especially Backwards, the opening track. Thought I’d post this for my dad who turns (by his own record keeping, not the official one) 39 1/2 today, since the lyrics are fitting for birthdays - and rides - which we’ll be taking this afternoon to pick up our new puppy (Forbin’s niece).
Happy happy oh my friend
Blow out candles once again
Leave the presents all inside
Take my hand and let’s take a ride

I was combing through some photos from way back as I piece together a little tribute to the Colonel. The little guy turns 3 on Thursday, and unfortunately for the second time in three years I will not be with him on his birthday. I’m sure it’ll just be another day for him, so I won’t feel too bad about it and he will be getting a raincheck on his steak dinner. However, he’s been gone two days now, and the place doesn’t feel quite the same without him. His blanket doesn’t drape over the left arm of my chair creating his patented pocket, and there’s no one to greet us when we walk in the door.
I didn’t realize what a good photo this was until I went back to the RAW file and dropped in the grayscale version. This will definitely go into the little project I’m working on.
If you don’t follow Deef, you probably should. Today’s his 24th birthday, so leave him a comment with some warm wishes. And Chicago tumblrs, watch out - The Deefster returns to the Windy City in early 2009.
GPOYW: 24th Birthday Bash At Grant Park Edition
Okay, I look like a complete jackass in this picture, but I was thoroughly intoxicated and overwhelmed with joy. It was an amazing night that I’ll remember for the rest of my life. To celebrate my brother’s birthday (yesterday) and mine (today) together was special. When Barack came out my brother hugged me and began to cry a little bit as he said, “We really did do it. I can’t think of a better way to celebrate our birthdays.”
The scene in the Loop last night was by far the happiest, most joyous celebration I’ve ever been a part of. It was amazing to see people of all ages, races, and backgrounds coming together, sharing hugs and high fives, just knowing that America can come together and make a difference.
I’ve finalized plans for my Barack ‘N’ Roll Birthday Bash, which will be held at The Martini Bar in the South Loop. The 4th is my brother’s birthday and the 5th is mine, so it’s a celebration on many fronts. All of tumblr is invited, so if you’re in Chicago or coming to town for Barack’s election night celebration, you’re invited to come and celebrate. The Martini Bar is a classy place and we’ve got it to ourselves!
Email me if you want more info or to confirm your attendance.

This should dovetail nicely with my birthday party that is now in the planning stages (at a bar in the South Loop). Tumblr invites for this mega-celebration should follow later this week.
Birthday Party + Obama Victory Celebration in Grant Park ala ‘90’s Bulls Championships? Yeah, this is primed to be the best birthday in recent memory.

Happy Birthday, Apple! You’re thirty-two years old, and looking quite sexy I might add. Hard to believe that when you were only twenty-one years old, people were “praying” for you to make it out of your coma. Eleven years later? You’re leading the world in phones, personal computer operating systems, and music. Not only that, but you’re doing it through innovative design, simple and elegant UI, and with class!
