Jimi Hendrix - “Sunshine Of Your Love”
This has to be the real gem on the new Valleys of Neptune album. Just listen.

Bob Marley - “Sun Is Shining”
Gorillaz ft. Snoop Dogg - “Welcome To The World Of The Plastic Beach”
The new Gorillaz album Plastic Beach has leaked, and is absolutely fantastic. The guest appearances are ridiculous. Lou Reed, Mos Def, Bobby Womack, De La Soul, The Lebanese National Orchestra for Oriental Arabic Music, and featured on this track, Snoop.
Trey Anastasio plays the Riviera Theatre in Chicago on Friday, February 19, 2010.

I received a press pass to shoot in front of the stage at last night’s Trey Anastasio show. I captured some incredible shots (this one being my favorite as you can see Trey bending a note with a huge smile on his face). I also shared a few words and a fist pump with Trey as I was leaving.
Today is the 7th anniversary since I saw Trey for the first time with Phish at Allstate Arena on 2.20.03. Last night was about the 70th time I’ve seen him live, and I’ve never seen him healthier, more energetic or playing better than he has been the past few months. The guy is loving it again and I think this photo says as much.

Johnny Cash - “For The Good Times”
Rick Rubin has helped completely clear the vault of any remaining unreleased material from the end of Cash’s life with American VI: Ain’t No Grave. Surprisingly, most of what’s presented within this album is not little bits and pieces put together to resemble an album. There’s some gems on this album, and I happen to really enjoy this particular one.
Dr. Dog - “Shadow People”
This is the new single from their forthcoming fifth LP Shame, Shame. I really dig what these guys have going on, and it sounds like the new album will be a treat.
Boots of Spanish Leather — Bob Dylan
From The Times They Are A-Changin’ (1963).
Out of every baller music class I’ve taken for my minor (Rock & Roll in the 70s/80s, Hendrix, Blues and Zappa, to name a few … jealous? I should hope so), none has been as thoroughly enjoyable as Bob Dylan. I may be a little biased; Dylan and Van Morrison are the only two artists that can so strongly remind me of my childhood. Listening to them is comparable to looking at an old, faded photograph. I almost get a head rush from the bazillion memories that surface within the song’s first twenty-five seconds.
I have my first exam this upcoming week, and I honestly think I’ll have more difficulty repressing my idiotic grin and desire to sing along.
When did IU introduce a Dylan class? I took a number of music classes during undergrad (Beatles, History of Jazz and Soul, Roots of Rock, 70’s and 80s), but I would have gladly taken a Dylan class - especially if Glenn Gass was leading it up.
Tom Petty - “Wildflowers”
Wildflowers is still one of my favorite albums.
Peter Gabriel - “Solsbury Hill”
One of my favorite songs
A Day In The Life - Jeff Beck
11.29.07 - Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club, London, England
This is seriously awesome.

Awesome, indeed.
You Can’t Always Get What You Want - The Rolling Stones
10.17.73 - Brussels, Belgium
This version absolutely smokes! Pure emotion in the music and Mick’s voice alike. This entire show is fire though, from an unfortunately very poorly represented era of live Stones.

The library is finally starting to get a little excessive… even by my own standards (not that there’s anything wrong with that).
In a ruling that certainly will impact on the future of live entertainment, the Department of Justice has approved the merger of Ticketmaster and Live Nation. The DOJ had been examining the potential union of the two companies for a year and some observers had expected that the government would determine that the merger violates the country’s antitrust laws. As it now stands, the new entity brings together a soup to nuts approach by owning: many major music venues, the nation’s major ticketing company, the country’s largest event promoter and also Irving Azoff’s powerful Front Line Management group. While some had suspected that the government would require Ticketmaster to divest itself of its TicketsNow secondary ticketing site, the DOJfailed to make this a condition of the merger.Call or write to your congressmen and women to voice your displeasure that this has passed. It will undoubtedly hurt live music fans, especially in these harsh economic times.
Epic fail, DoJ. This is bad, bad news.
The Hot Rats - “Love Is The Drug”
(via oneafter909:memmis)
I’m really digging this album. These guys remind me of a good cross between the Black Keys and White Stripes. Accessible, yet crunchy.
